調音方法 I have several extra harmonicas that have been re-tuned for a special purpose. In the second-position or "cross harp" style of playing the major seventh note is missing from the major scale. For example, cross-harp on a C harmonica puts one in the key of G. The G scale has an F# for its seventh note, but the C harmonica affords only an F note. To retrieve this missing note for more melodic playing in the cross harp position I must re-tune the 5th hole draw-note reed. How do I do that? Well, pay attention. First, I remove the cover plate and expose the reed plates beneath. The draw reeds are on the bottom side of the instrument. (You'll notice scratches on some of the reeds that indicate where they have been fine tuned at the factory.) Take a single edge razor blade and slide it under the 5th hole draw reed isolating it from the others. Be careful not to bend the reed. Next, take a small, fine file, like a jewelers file, and file diagonally across the end of the reed stopping from time to time to test the pitch. This is a slow, tedious process and requires patience and a good ear, but once the reed has been raised in pitch a half step you'll be ready to play.* |
